Hungry and on the go: How to Avoid the Drive Thru

We have all done it…left the house to run a few errands and suddenly we are starving and craving some food that will provide a solution to that crazy grumbling sound in our bellies. So, we go for something quick and fast. Most of the time it means grabbing something quick. The drive thru is usually the place to be, especially since there are so many to chose from and you don’t have to get out of the car (I’m a Mom, I get it. Sometimes the last thing you want to do is get the kids out of the car to get food. It’s never a quick stop)

Fast Food used to have good old-fashioned fruits and veggies. Imagine that! I’ve seen a number of places offering fruit and veggies but not nearly enough.

The best way to avoid temptation is to plan ahead. I love taking snacks with me in my purse or having s stash in my car. My favorites are apples, veggies with hummus and even some healthy homemade trail mix! I like to make my own trail mix with nuts, raisins, and dried fruit like cranberries in a little Ziploc back or plastic Tupperware container. It is always there and it doesn’t fail me. It also quick to prepare and if I make a bunch of it I can take little servings for a couple days so it lasts.

If you have to stop to get something, I always recommend getting fruit, nuts or a protein bar: my favorite is Quest Nutrition bar. =)
